Matt Wright, geboren in 1977 in het Britse Norwich, studeerde bij Richard Steinitz en Christopher Fox aan de Universiteit van Huddersfield, bij Louis Andriessen, Martijn Padding en Richard Ayres aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Amsterdam en ten slotte bij Roger Redgate aan het Goldsmiths College in Londen. Wright is actief als componist, improvisator en klankkunstenaar. Daarbij verkent hij de grenzen van het klassieke concertcircuit en de clubcultuur, met zowel composities geschreven voor oude muziekensembles alsook werken waarin digitale improvisatie, draaitafels en installaties een centrale plaats innemen. Wright werkte reeds samen met onder meer Evan Parker, Francis-Marie Uitti, Joanna Macgregor, Ensemble Klang, Slagwerkgroep Den Haag en BL!NDMAN. Daarnaast kreeg hij talrijke compositieopdrachten van festivals zoals Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Sonic Arts Network Expo, Sounds New Festival, Bath International Music Festival en Ars Musica.

Wright is active as a composer, improviser and sound artist. His work explores the boundaries between the classical concert circuit and the club culture, with both compositions written for early-music ensembles and works in which digital improvisation, turntables and installations take centre stage. Wright has worked with Evan Parker, Francis-Marie Uitti, Joanna Macgregor, Ensemble Klang, Slagwerkgroep Den Haag, BL!NDMAN and others. He has had works commissioned by festivals such as the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Sonic Arts Network Expo, Sounds New Festival, Bath International Music Festival and Ars Musica.
