Dullea, Mary

Mary Dullea is afkomstig uit het Ierse Cork en studeerde piano aan het Royal College of Music in Londen. Zij behaalde tevens een masterdiploma in Hedendaagse Muziek aan Goldsmiths College London.

Dullea is een veel gevraagde soliste en speelt ook regelmatig in kamermuziekverband, met concerten
over heel Europa, de Verenigde Staten tot in Hong Kong, China en Zuid-Afrika.
Dullea staat vooral bekend voor haar interpretaties van nieuwe muziek. Zij
bestelde en creëerde reeds composities van onder meer Toshio Hosokawa, Edison
Denisov, Salvatore Sciarrino, Michael Nyman, Donnacha Dennehy en Deirdre
Gribbin. Regelmatig worden haar concerten uitgezonden op internationale
radiozenders, en van de talrijke cd’s die zij opnam vielen vele in de prijzen.
Momenteel voert Dullea onderzoek naar composities die zowel binnen- als
buitenkant van het piano-instrument gebruiken, wat zal leiden tot een Doctoraat
in Performance aan de University of Ulster.

Dullea is much in demand as a soloist, and also performs regularly with chamber music ensembles throughout Europe, the United States and in Hong Kong, China and South Africa. Dullea is most famous for her interpretations of new music. She has commissioned and premiered compositions by Toshio Hosokawa, Edison Denisov, Salvatore Sciarrino, Michael Nyman, Donnacha Dennehy, Deirdre Gribbin and others. Her concerts are frequently broadcast on international radio, and many of her numerous CD recordings have received awards. Dullea is currently researching compositions that use both the inside and outside of the piano as part of her studies for a PhD in Performance at the University of Ulster.
