Schola Heidelberg & ensemble aisthesis
The vocal ensemble Schola Heidelberg and instrumental ensemble aisthesis put together on one stage grants pure musical synergy, as in Johannes Kalitzke’s work where the vocal sound simply melts into that of the accordion and an arsenal of objects in a lively semi-theatrical presentation.
Premieres
Joachim Brackx, fascinated by the phenomenon of sound, focuses on the purely vocal in his new work. Georg Friedrich Haas, Austria’s most famous contemporary composer, works with fine sonic gradations and microtones, which is a challenge for a vocal ensemble. Michael Maierhof will provide some counterbalance with a kind of acoustic ‘noise-music’, in which raw blocks of sound rub over each other, giving the music a palpable character.
