Elision ensemble

Looking for new forms of expression

Originating in Australia, the Elision ensemble has become a group of new-music specialists from all over the world. They will premiere the latest work by their partner in crime, British living legend Richard Barrett. Barrett, who continually questions conventions, combines virtuosity and experiment to come up with new forms of expression. So does Paul Craenen, who investigates how musicians handle extreme virtuosity when they cannot see each other. Timothy McCormack’s compositions create an extremely complex and subtle sound field that emanates a totally different feeling with the slightest change in the player’s position. And to end this premiere party, you can get acquainted with Einar Torfi Einarson and David Brynjar Franzson, two young Icelandic composers who already have a large international following thanks to their highly original personal musical language.
